A Lakeland physical therapist pleaded guilty Wednesday to federal charges of fraudulently billing Medicare and Medicaid.
Raymundo P. Arellano and his wife, Lilian J. Pagkaliwangan, who also is a licensed physical therapist, were indicted in December.
Federal prosecutors accused the couple of defrauding the health care benefit programs from April 2006 to June 2008.
Arellano's plea agreement states the proceeds of the health care fraud conspiracy totaled about $319,415.
He pleaded guilty to six counts of making false statements in connection with health care benefits, which each carry up to five years in prison.
He also pleaded guilty to aggravated identity theft, which carries up to two years in prison.
Prosecutors agreed to drop other charges.
U.S. District Judge James D. Whittemore will decide Arellano's punishment.
Prosecutors won't oppose Arellano's request for a sentence at the low end of sentencing guidelines.
A sentencing hearing has not been scheduled.
Pagkaliwangan continues to face federal charges. A trial is set for next month.
