A central Pennsylvania pediatric specialist will spend eight years in federal prison for mail fraud.
Fifty-year-old Saroj Kumar Parida was also ordered Tuesday to pay more than $7 million in restitution after he admitted to health care and mail fraud.
Federal prosecutors say Parida, of Lititz, submitted millions of dollars in fraudulent medical bills to 23 different benefit programs, including Medicaid, between 2003 and last year.
Parida, a pediatric specialists for newborns, pleaded guilty to one count each of health care fraud and mail fraud earlier this year.
Parida paid about $950,000 in restitution before sentencing. Authorities also seized $5.7 million in assets.
